Lucknow: Achieving another big milestone ahead of the planned schedule, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has now started the work of mast erection for its Over Head Electrification (OHE) work on its viaduct. This is a significant achievement in such a short span of time considering the fact that it’s been just over a month for Lucknow Metro wherein it had commenced the work for laying of tracks at its Transport Nagar Depot.
Erection of OHE masts for providing 25 kV Traction Power to the Metro Trains commenced yesterday on viaduct near Krishna Nagar Metro station. The Receiving Sub Station (RSS) which shall feed power to the priority corridor is being constructed at Transport Nagar Depot. The foundation works for this RSS has already been completed and the superstructure works are in progress.
The Transport Nagar RSS of LMRC will receive power at 132 kV voltage from 220kV Sarojani Nagar Sub Station of UPPTCL for which double circuit 132kV underground cables (approx.

The process of getting approvals from different stake holders like NHAI, PWD,GAIL, GGL etc is in progress and it is expected that cabling work would be completed before the onset of monsoon. Construction of two 132kV dedicated bays is in full swing at Sarojani Nagar.
At every RSS, there are two substations namely the Traction Sub Station (TSS) and the Auxiliary Main Substation (AMS). The output of TSS is 25 kV single phase AC, which is used for running of Metro train, the output of AMS is 33 kV three phase AC which is further stepped down to 415 V three phase for providing auxiliary supply to the stations and train maintenance depots.
The entire power supply arrangement shall be remotely operated, controlled and monitored through SCADA system from the Control Centre coming up at the Transport Nagar Depot.
