Kanpur Metro: UP Metro Targets To Perform Trial Run By November And To Commence Metro Services By January 2022

KANPUR (Metro Rail News): Under the ambitious Kanpur Metro Project, construction works of 9KMs long Priority Corridor, comprising 9 Metro stations (all elevated) are being executed with tremendous pace.

“Engineers of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRC) are playing their part day & night to ensure the availability of a world class Metro system for Kanpurites under the stipulated time frame. In line with this objective, starting from 8.30 AM onward, MD Shri Kumar Keshav visited the whole Priority Corridor (Motijheel to IIT-K) and resolved various issues to enhance the construction works”, the UPMRC has said.

Tackle high traffic areas first


During his visit, MD has advised the Metro engineers to execute the construction works in the high traffic areas of the corridor on priority basis, to ensure the least inconvenience to the general public and commuters. Besides this, he also advised the Metro engineers to do further planning of the Metro stations in such a way that the available space can be utilized to the maximum with the objective of providing maximum comfort to the people after the introduction of Metro services in future.

During his inspection, communicating with the UPMRC staff, contractors and General Consultant, Mr. Kumar Keshav said that, “work on the strategies, while keeping the target of trial run on the 9KMs long Priority Corridor by November 2021 in mind.” He added that the preparations for bringing and installing the various key systems (viz. Electrical and fire etc.) for Metro operations are in line and the track laying work will also commence soon. 
In Kanpur, the civil construction work of the Priority Corridor was inaugurated by CM Yogi Adityanath on 15th Nov., 2019 and since then UPMRC’s engineers have been keeping up the pace of the construction works.
