DELHI (Metro Rail News): Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (DMRC) awarded Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. a Rs. 155.87 crore contract to manufacture and supply 16,935 metric tonnes of Head Hardened Rails for the Delhi Metro’s Phase IV corridors on March 12, 2024.
Complying with Indian Railway’s Standard Specification for flat bottom rails IRS: T-12-2009, the package offers 60E1 – 1080 grade tracks produced with a specialised heat treatment. Ensuring enhanced strength, reduced residual stress, prolonged track life, and minimised maintenance, promising superior performance and durability.
Originally invited bids for DT-02 in Feb 2022 with a 540-day deadline were cancelled, being technically non-responsive. Bidders for DT-02R were re-invited in July 2023 with a 365-day deadline. Technical bids were started in October 2023 to reveal four bidders, whereas Financial bids started in February 2024.

The retendered contract includes 65.1 km of Priority Corridors of the 85.86 km Phase IV DMRC Project. It contains one new line (23.62 km Golden line: Aerocity—Tughlakabad) and the extension of the Magenta Line (28.92 km Janakpuri West—R.K. Ashram) and Pink Line (12.58 km Mukundpur—Maujpur).
