KOLKATA (Metro Rail News): The Joka-Taratala corridor of the Kolkata Metro gets approved by CMRS for commencing commercial operations. It will connect the city’s southwest suburbs.
According to a senior official, six stations — Joka, Thakurpukur, Sakherbazar, Behala Chowrasta, Behala Bazar, and Taratala are prepared to begin commercial operations.
Mandatory clearance for the project from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has been obtained,’ Metro Railway General Manager Arun Arora said.
He said preparations are in full swing to start commercial operations on the Joka-Taratala stretch of the Joka-Esplanade Metro project.
The CRS inspection was held on November 10 after trial runs on the section since September.
Arora said the Indian Railways spent Rs 2,477.25 crores to finish the 6.5-kilometre section.
