KOLKATA (Metro Rail News): Indian Railways on Wednesday conducted the first trial run of the Kolkata Metro train up to Dakshineswar along the city’s North-South corridor according to a news report.
“Once ready, this will enhance connectivity, benefit lakhs of daily commuters and enable devotees to comfortable visit Dakshineswar Kali Temple,” said the Ministry of Railways.
“The 4-km extension of the city’s existing North-South stretch to Dakshineswar is mostly on elevated structure”, an official was quoted saying by PTI.

After the trial, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) conducted an inspection as per rules ahead of clearance for commercial operations on the corridor.
“Indian Railways on 23 Dec 2020 conducted first trial run of Kolkata Metro train up to Dakshineswar along the city’s North-South Corridor”, Mr Piyush Goyal wrote on Twitter.
