Gujarat Metro Rail awards two contracts to the Siemens and Rail Vikas Nigam consortium

As a consortium member, Siemens Limited's contribution is Rs 678 crore.

GUJARAT (Metro Rail News): Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation has awarded two separate orders to the partnership of Siemens and Rail Vikas Nigam.

According to a BSE filing by Siemens, Siemens Limited is a consortium member with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, which achieved two orders from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (GMRCL).

The Company added that Siemens Limited’s contribution as a consortium member is Rs 678 crore.

The orders cover Surat Metro Phase 1, which spans over 40 kilometres and comprises 38 stations and two depots. Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 extends more than 28 kilometres and includes 23 stations and one depot.

Siemens will offer project management services and technologies for train electrification, such as innovative power supply and distribution systems. Siemens will also offer modern digital technologies for both metros, wildly Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) solutions.

The head of Siemens’ mobility division, Gunjan Vakharia, thanked GMRCL for believing in Siemens in their journey to create a safer, greener, and more innovative transport solution for sustainable cities.

Siemens is a technological corporation focusing on business, transportation, infrastructure, and transmission, along with electricity generation.
