DELHI (Metro Rail News): The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has commissioned its largest electric vehicle (EV) charging facility on the Delhi Meerut RRTS corridor, located at the Anand Vihar station in East Delhi.
The station is equipped with 10 fast-charging units. Each unit has a capacity of 480 kW. The facility can support the simultaneous charging of up to 10 four-wheeled electric vehicles. Under optimal operating conditions, a four-wheeler vehicle can achieve up to 80% charge within 30 minutes.

The station also includes dedicated charging infrastructure for heavy commercial electric vehicles. This provision addresses a critical gap in the existing charging ecosystem in the region, where infrastructure for large electric vehicles has remained limited. The inclusion of such facilities is expected to support the adoption of electric mobility in the commercial transport segment.
Users can access the facility through the “Electrify” mobile application, which enables slot booking, real-time charging status updates, and digital payment, eliminating the need for any on-site manual intervention.
The Anand Vihar installation brings the total number of EV charging-enabled stations on the corridor to eight. Charging services are currently active at Sahibabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, and Meerut South, with a mix of fast and standard charging infrastructure deployed across these locations. NCRTC has indicated that further expansion along the corridor is under consideration.
The move comes at a time when EV charging infrastructure in Delhi-NCR is seeing coordinated investment from multiple agencies. The Delhi Transport Corporation has separately initiated the tendering process for charger installation at its Kashmiri Gate, Sarai Kale Khan, and Anand Vihar bus depots, which signals a wider, city-level push to build out the EV ecosystem in parallel with the growth of the electric vehicle fleet.
