Schindler India Wins Escalator Contract of Kochi Metro Phase 2

KOCHI (Metro Rail News): The Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has announced Schindler India Private Limited as lowest bidder for the escalator contract of the Kochi Metro Phase 2.

KMRL invited bids for this contract with a 730 days deadline. Technical bids were opened on 29 September announcing that 3 firms submitted bids for this contract. The technical evaluation of the submitted bids took place on 27 Nov 2025 and all the 3 firms qualified that round. Furthermore, financial bids for the qualified bids were opened on the same day and after a financial evaluation round Schindler India was declared as the lowest bidder for the contract.

Contract Scope of Work: Design, Manufacturing, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning Of Heavy Duty Escalators For Phase II of The Kochi Metro Rail Project.

The under construction Phase 2 of Kochi Metro consists of one metro corridor (Pink Line) which spans 11.2 km from JLN Stadium to Infopark covering 11 stations.

Station Names: Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (new station box), Palarivattom Junction, Palarivattom Bypass, Chembumukku, Vazhakkala, Padamughal (formerly Kunnumpuram), Kakkanad Junction, Cochin SEZ (Special Economic Zone), Chittethukara, KINFRA (formerly Rajagiri), InfoPark 1 / Smart City 1, and InfoPark 2 / Smart City 2
