Dr Kanmadi Appointed as the New CPRO of South Western Railways

BENGALURU (Metro Rail News): Dr Manjunath Kanmadi has been appointed South Western Railways’s new Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO). 

Appointment

Kanmadi, a 2013-batch officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) and a qualified doctor from Jamkhandi, Bagalkot district, has assumed the role of IRTS officer, succeeding Aneesh Hegde. 

Background 

Before this appointment, he served in various capacities within the South Western Railway (SWR), including roles such as Deputy Chief Commercial Manager/Passenger Service, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager in the Mysuru and Hubballi divisions, and Divisional Operations Manager in the Hubballi division, according to a statement from the railways. Aneesh Hegde, the outgoing officer, has been posted as Joint Director (Infrastructure)-I at the Railway Board.

South Western Railways 

The South Western Railway (SWR), headquartered in Hubballi, Karnataka, is one of India’s 19 railway zones. In 2003, SWR was formed by reorganising routes from Southern Railways, South Central Railways, and Central Railways.

The railway zone comprises the following divisions:

1. Bengaluru railway division

2. Mysuru railway division

3. Hubballi railway division

4. Kalaburagi railway division (Currently proposed and on hold)

The Mysuru Division of the South Western Railways is set to be recognised as the “Digital Division” upon successfully implementing its current technology harnessing program.
