Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) have formalised an agreement for the Operation and Maintenance services for three corridors of Chennai Metro’s Phase-II, including Maintenance Depots at Madhavaram, Poonamallee & Semmancheri.

As per the agreement, DMRC will provide Operation and Maintenance services for approximately 15 years The contract, awarded through an international competitive bidding process on April 2, 2025, encompasses approximately 118 km of track and 112 stations across Corridors 3, 4, and 5.


The DMRC will assume responsibility for the management of various Operations and Maintenance Services, which primarily include train operations, station management, depot activities, and the Operational Control Centre, all of which will adhere to international standards.
This represents DMRC’s second major success in O&M under international bidding, following its successful acquisition of the Mumbai Metro Line 3 O&M Contract in 2023.

The first segment of the Chennai Metro Rail Limited Phase II is anticipated to become operational by December 2025, with the entire Phase II expected to be operational in a phased approach by December 2028.
