NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has built a state-of-the-art “Sainik Aram Grah” for the Indian Army at the Delhi Cantonment in an effort to accommodate and feed Army personnel and their family members visiting the base hospital.
The four-storey structure will accommodate both active-duty and retired Army members, as well as their dependents, particularly those who are in the base hospital, officials stated.
According to officials, the facility was built in accordance with a contract between the Indian Army and Delhi Metro. For the construction of the heritage line back in 2014, the Delhi Metro had acquired a plot of land from the Indian Army close to Lal Qila.
According to the terms of the land transfer, the DMRC was required to build a Sainik Aram Grah at a site designated by the Army authorities, DMRC stated.
In Delhi Cantonment, the Army finalised a plot of property next to the base hospital in 2019. After receiving clear land, the DMRC began building on the facility in February 2020, and it was just finished, officials. On Thursday, the facility was inaugurated. “Khanpur is constructing another such facility,” they continued.
The transit facility features one mess, four dormitories with 13 beds each, and 46 double bedrooms, officials stated. The Army handled the horticulture and interior decorating.
