Delhi Metro Red, Blue and Yellow Line trains to have 8 Coaches

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): In order to make Delhi Metro decongested, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to run 8 coaches trains on Red (Rithala – Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda), Blue (Dwarka Sector 21 – Noida Electronic City/Vaishali) and Yellow (Huda City Centre – Samaypur Badli) Lines from present 6 coaches train on these lines.

The decision is also important as the corona cases continue to rise in the National Capital Region (NCR) and to maintain social distancing in the Delhi Metro and make trains operating on these lines less crowded with more convenience to the commuters.

DMRC has already initiated the work to add coaches on trains operating on this route and this activity is being carried out in phase manner. All metro trains on these three lines will have 8 coaches by the end of this year. A total of 120 coaches will be added to complete the work

On Yellow line, work of adding coaches will be completed by the end of this month. Out of these 120 coaches, 80 coaches have been purchase from Bombardier and the remaining 40 coaches from BEML (Bharat Earth Movers Limited).

According to DMRC spokesperson, “This activity is being carried out to increase the carrying capacity of the three main corridors of the Delhi Metro – Red Line, Blue Line and Yellow Line, which contribute to almost 40-50 % of passenger utilization every day”.
