NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): Delhi Metro’s Grey Line which runs between Dwarka and Najafgarh was opened to the public in October 2019. A small section of the Grey Line corridor that will connect the Haryana border will be completed by May 2021 according to sources.
Grey Line (5.4 km long stretch) was later added to the Phase-3 project of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The Dwarka-Najafgarh corridor consists of three stations (Dwarka, Nangli and Najafgarh) and has 2.7 km elevated and 1.5 km underground sections.
“Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the extension of Dhansa Bus Stand on the Delhi-Haryana border has been put on halt earlier. Now it has been restarted as part of Unlock process guidelines”, said one official.
As per the DMRC’s plan, Najafgarh to Dhansa Bus Stand section expansion plan is expected to open by May 2021. The length of this corridor is 1.2 km which is entirely underground and have only one metro station i.e. Dhansa Station. In this ongoing project, a 700-metre tunnel will be constructed with the help of a TBM and by cut and cover method.
The Grey Line is the smallest corridor of Delhi Metro with only three trains on that line with the total travel time on this section being six minutes and 20 seconds.
