Chennai (Metro Rail News): Alstom Transport India has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) for the rolling stock Contract ARE04A of Chennai Metro Phase 2.

Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) plans to run 96 coaches as part of this rolling stock agreement. These coaches will form 32 train sets, each consisting of three cars in a DMC+TC+DMC configuration. These trains are yet to be allocated to specific corridors and will be serviced at one of the following depots:
- Madhavaram Depot – serving Lines 3 and 5
- Semmancheri Depot – for Line 3
- Poonamallee Depot – for Line 4
Bidding Process
The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) floated the tender for this contract, and Alstom, BEML and Titagarh submitted bids for the rolling stock contract of Chennai Metro Phase 2.
On 23 January 2025, technical bids were opened. The technical evaluation of the technically qualified bids occurred on 12 March 2025.
Financial bids were opened on 12 March 2025. Financial evaluation took place on 22 May 2025, and Alstom was declared the lowest bidder for the contract.
On 22 May 2025, Alstom received LoA from CMRL for the rolling stock contract of Chennai Metro Phase 2.
