BENGALURU (Metro Rail News): On Wednesday, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) conducted the first trial run between the K.R. Pura and Baiyappanahalli metro stations. The train ran at a slow speed of 15 kmph, and they checked various parameters and alignments between the train and the tracks.
According to an official, work related to traction, signalling, and other things were completed before the trial run. Now, BMRCL will approach the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety for an inspection.
BMRCL is also planning to begin operations on this 2 km stretch by the end of August. This stretch is part of the purple line that connects Kengeri to Whitefield.
Earlier, on March 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 13.71 km metro line from K.R. Pura to Whitefield with 12 stations. But the stretch between Baiyappanahalli and K.R. Pura was not ready then.
With this missing link connected, BMRCL anticipates a significant increase in daily ridership from 75,000 to 1 lakh, considering passengers traveling between Kengeri to Whitefield and Majestic to Whitefield.
