BENGALURU (Metro Rail News): In an important development for the Bangalore Metro Project, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has awarded a contract to M/s Larsen & Toubro Limited for two packages related to the Bangalore Metro Project, Phase 2 A & 2B. These packages involve designing, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning ballasted/ballastless tracks of standard gauge.
Package-1 focuses on the elevated viaduct section from Silk Board Metro Station to Krishnarajapuram Metro Station and from Krishnarajapuram Metro Station to Kempapura Metro Station. It also includes the Baiyappanahalli Depot.
On the other hand, Package-2 covers the elevated viaduct section from Kempapura Metro Station to Airport Metro Station, along with the Airport Depot.
The accepted contract amount for Package-1 is INR 2,684,685,571/-, and for Package-2, it is INR 2,324,802,577/-. Both packages have a completion period of 36 months. The two works packages are as follows:
• Package 1: This package includes the design, installation, testing, supply, and commissioning of ballastless tracks of standard gauge (57 KM Apx. ) in the elevated viaduct section. The section stretches from Silk Board Metro Station to Krishnarajapuram Metro station and from Krishnarajapuram Metro Station to Kempapura Metro Station. It also includes the Baiyappanahalli Depot.
• Package 2:This package involves the design, supply, testing, installation, and commissioning of ballastless tracks of standard gauge ( 51 KM Apx) in the elevated viaduct section. The section extends from Kempapura Metro Station to Airport Metro Station. It also includes the installation of ballasted tracks in the Airport Depot of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project, Phase-2B.
In October 2022, BMRCL invited tenders for these works under the reference number BMRCL/Phase-2A and 2B/Track Work/2022/93. This contract award is a crucial step in the progress of the Bangalore Metro Project.
