BANGALORE (Metro Rail News): Bangalore Metro Project advanced as all six coaches of the 8th trainset manufactured by Titagarh Rail System for Bangalore Metro’s Yellow Line arrived at Hebbagodi Depot on 19th Jan 2026. The yellow line of Bangalore Metro spans 19.15 km between R.V. Road and Bommasandra covering 16 stations.
A senior Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) official stated that the coaches will first be assembled into a complete trainset before undergoing a series of mandatory tests.
The official said “The train will undergo comprehensive static and dynamic trials, including signalling integration and running for a stipulated minimum number of kilometres. These tests will be conducted during night hours after passenger services are halted for the day,” as reported by The New Indian Express.
Titagarh Rail System will supply 14 trains for Bangalore Metro Yellow Line and 20 trainsets for Purple line as per the MoU signed between China’s CRRC Corporation Ltd and Titagarh. In February 2019, CRRC Corporation bagged the rolling stock contract of Bangalore Metro. The contract included the supply of 216 coaches (36 train sets) for the Yellow and Purple Line. However, CRRC was incapable of fulfilling the contract’s requirement and it signed a MoU with Titagarh Rail System.
As per the MoU CRRC will supply one prototype train for the Yellow Line and one prototype train for the Purple Line and the remaining 34 train sets will be manufactured by Titagarh.
