NEWS HIGHLIGHTSMetroKolkata Metro: CRS Approves Sealdah-Esplanade stretch of the Green lineKolkata Metro Project advanced as the Sealdah-Esplanade stretch of the Green line, which spans 2.63 km, has received the safety certificate from the Commission of Railway Safety (CRS). On 27 April 2025, Shri Sumeet Singhal, CRS, North Frontier Circle, inspected the SealdahEsplanade stretch of the Green line. Furthermore, on 21 January 2025, the first trial run was initated on the Sealdah-Esplanade stretch of the Green Line. The Green Line of Kolkata Metro spans 13 km, connecting Sector V %u2013 Sealdah and Howrah Maidan %u2013 Esplanade through 12 stations. Supreme Court Permits Delhi Metro Phase 4 Construction with Environmental ConditionsOn 29 April 2025, the Supreme Court permitted the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to proceed with construction activities for Inderlok to Indraprastha and Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block corridors of Phase IV of the Delhi Metro, following DMRC%u2019s assurance to %u201cstrictly abide%u201d by the conditions laid down by the Central Empowered Committee (CEC), which was appointed by the Court as these corridors will traverse areas with morphological features similar to the Ridge. CMRL Expands Chennai Metro Trials Up to Porur Junction StationThe Chennai Metro project advanced as Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) extended the trial runs on Corridor 4 of Phase 2. The CMRL has extended the trials on the 9.1 km stretch connecting Mullai Thottam Metro Station and Porur Junction Metro Station This section features 7 stations. In March 2025, CMRL initially conducted the trial runs between the Poonamallee Depot and Mullaithottam, a 3 km stretch of Corridor 4 of Chennai Metro Phase 2. YFC %u2013 BBG JV Begins Foundation Work for Nagpur Metro Phase 2%u2019s Package C-09The Nagpur Metro project progressed as YFC Projects %u2013 BBG Infrastructure JV has started the 1st foundation work at the MHADA Colony station of Orange Line%u2019s Reach 1A under civil Package C-09 of Nagpur Metro Phase 2. In January 2025, YFC Projects %u2013 BBG Infrastructure JV secured the civil package C-09 from MMRCL with a bid of %u20b9219.3 crore. The contract%u2019s scope of work includes the construction of 8 elevated stations on the Orange Line%u2019s Reach-1A.Centre Govt Allocates Rs. 8,445.8 Crore for Chennai Metro Phase 2Chennai Metro Project progressed as Rs. 8,445.8 Crore has been sanctioned for the Chennai Metro Phase 2 this financial year. For the very first time, Chennai has received the highest allocation among all metro projects in the country. This recent development follows the approval by the Central Government in October 2024 to classify the project as a centrally-assisted initiative. This categorisation has effectively alleviated over three years of delays in obtaining financial clearance, which had previously required the state to assume all associated costs independently.
