BANGKOK (Metro Rail News): The Thailand Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) started the final section of the Blue Line metro between Tao Poon-Tha Phra on the western side of Bangkok on 30th of March.

The blue line is now 48 km long with a total thirty-eight stations. The line creates a loop around Bangkok and operates from Tha Phra north by Tao Poon, Bang Sue, Chatuchak Park & Lat Phrao in northern Bangkok before turning south to run via Phetohaburi and Sukhumvit along with the city’s eastern side.

The blue line then turns west passing by Silom, Hua Lamphong mainline station, Tha Phra & Bang Wa to Lak Song. The Line interchanges among the Purple Line, the Silom, Sukhumvit lines, and the Suvarnabhumi Airport Line.

Siemens Mobility & ST Electronics, Thailand, were answerable for supplying a combined rail system for the expansion under a contract by MRTA, Bangkok Expressway and Metro and C H Karnchang.
