TBM (S-711), nicknamed Tejas, is a refurbished Herrenknecht Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) machine. For its current assignment, TBM Tejas began its drive from the Maa Anandmayee Marg (MAM) Station and, after constructing a 782.6-meter tunnel, it reached the Tughlakabad Railway Colony station on 29 July 2025.

For its first drive, which commenced in 2023, TBM Tejas constructed approximately 2.674 km of tunnel from the Air Force Launch Shaft, located just east of Sangam Vihar Station, to Maa Anandmayee Marg Station.

According to DMRC’s statement, “This new tunnel has been constructed at an average depth of approximately 18 meters. About 559 rings have been installed in the tunnel, with an inner diameter of 5.8 meters”.

This development was recorded in Package DC-07, which was awarded to Afcons Infrastructure at Rs. 1669.20 crore in January 2022 with a 42-month deadline. The Package covers about a 6.981 km section which connects Sangam Vihar Station and  Sarita Vihar Depot via 3 underground stations:

  • Maa Anandmayee Marg
  • Tughlakabad Railway Colony
  • Tughlakabad (Interchange with Violet Line)
