BHUBANESWAR (Metro Rail News): Following the cancellation of all the tenders of the Bhubaneswar Metro Project, the state government of Odisha is planning to submit a new proposal to the central government for reviving the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra conveyed this information following the second meeting of the inter-ministerial committee held here on Thursday.

According to the minister’s statement, it has been determined that a technical committee will be established, which will consist of the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, engineers, and various experts. This committee will be tasked with developing a comprehensive plan for the project, which will include the metro route and parking facilities. Prior to finalising the blueprint, the committee will conduct field visits to cities where metro systems are already operational and will seek public opinion to inform their decisions.
The previous Bhubaneswar Metro project was intended to be financed by the state government.

The previous metro plan was discontinued due to traffic congestion concerns along the proposed route. A new design for the project will be developed, with financial backing from the central government. Additionally, a meeting of the ministerial committee, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, has resolved to establish a sub-committee tasked with ensuring the smooth implementation of the project.
