MUMBAI (Metro Rail News): The arrival of the first batch of four coaches of the prototype train in the city on 2nd August 2022 in the early morning gave the Metro Line-3 project a significant boost, which is facing opposition from environmentalists.
Four trailers, each hauling a coach, travelled 1,400 kilometres in 13 days from Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, to the city. This project was postponed due to COVID-19 and opposition from environmentalists to the car shed at Aarey Milk Colony.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde lifted the ban on the construction of the car shed. Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister, has requested Bhushan Gagrani, the additional chief secretary of the urban development department, to put together a proposal to resume the work at the first Cabinet meeting after his oath in office.
