3 Firms Submit Bids to Supply Third Rail System for Kochi Metro Phase 2

KOCHI (Metro Rail News): Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has announced the list of firms that have submitted bids for the contract involving the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the Third Rail Traction Electrification System and associated works under Phase 2 of the Kochi Metro project.

Phase 2 of the Kochi Metro comprises a single corridor, known as the Pink Line, which spans 11.2 km and connects JLN Stadium to Infopark II, covering a total of 11 stations along the route.

Scope of Work (Tender Brief):
The selected contractor will be responsible for Design Verification, Detail Engineering, Supply, Installation, Testing And Commissioning Of 750V DC third Rail Traction Electrification, Including Traction Substations (Tss), Auxiliary Substations (Ass) And Associated Scada Systems For Phase -II Of Kochi Metro Rail Project.

The construction of the Pink Line is being executed by Afcons Infrastructure at an estimated cost of ₹1,141.32 crore.

To address this constraint, the third rail traction system has been chosen, as it eliminates the need for overhead wires and is better suited for narrow viaducts in congested zones.
